Thanksgiving Day Message From Rev. Mike Smith
November 24, 2022
Dear Friends,
During this season, we are reminded to be grateful for all that we have. We express thankfulness for our health, relationships, families, jobs, and security. We are grateful for peace for today and hope for a better tomorrow. When we reflect upon the previous year, for many of us it is a time of remembering God’s blessings.
However, as we find reasons to give thanks, we must not forget those for whom this year has been challenging and has presented situations of frustration, fear, loneliness, pain, grief, and loss. The ability to “give thanks from a grateful heart” can be difficult when we are overwhelmed by life’s circumstances. It is unrealistic for us to be grateful for the circumstances or events that cause pain, but we can be thankful for God’s faithfulness and love in all of our life’s circumstances and that God is always with us.
Regardless of your situation this Thanksgiving, may this season be a time of giving thanks and experiencing grace. Take the opportunity to reach out to someone who is struggling, mend a broken relationship, be kind to a stranger, extend compassion to friends and family, and share God’s love in whatever opportunity is presented.
God’s love endures forever and the circumstances of life cannot overshadow God’s presence with us. May this season serve as a reminder of God’s grace working in our lives and in the circumstances of all we encounter.
Happy Thanksgiving.
