Please be aware, RWU will be working with our consultant, Trekk Design Group, to conduct sanitary sewer smoke testing beginning next week, July 11th through the end of the month. Affected areas will include neighborhoods on the southeast side of Rogers between Veterans Park and New Hope Rd., as well as the “Plantations” and neighboring subdivisions along S. 1st St. Residents are being individually notified by door hangers and auto-text as well.
Smoke testing is a process to visually detect defects in underground sanitary sewer pipes. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, has no odor, and is white to gray in color. It creates no fire hazard and is not dangerous to people or animals.
The smoke should not enter into any buildings unless the buildings have defective plumbing or dry drain traps. During testing, smoke may be evident outside at ground level, and at any sewer vent, manhole, or exposed cleanout. Work will commence in small sections of sewer, with testing for each section lasting approximately 30 minutes up to 1 hour.
