Is a portion of the email followed by our correction to the citizens.
Centerton Water email quote, “The City of Gravette – Four projects in the Hiwasse area to connect existing dead-end mains. A total of 5,810 feet of pipe with an underground crossing under I49. Total cost - $466,000. The Mayor of Gravette has notified us that he will not consider the application for funding.”
As you may recall, we tried to purchase the water system in the Hiwasse area when Centerton was trying to sell a portion to Bella Vista. We were informed at the time, that there was absolutely no interest in selling to Gravette.
Now! They have requested that instead of the City of Gravette using the rescue funds for buying a new ambulance for the Gravette Fire Department, and working to get sewer and water repairs done on our own system, they want us to give money to their system.
Not only does this not make any sense when Centerton Water is the provider in that area, but then to send it out to their email list, simply put, they’re playing politics!!

News from Centerton Utilities: American Rescue Funds - Working For You

You are probably aware the American Rescue Plan was enacted last year to boost the economy and increase employment by providing funds to local governments, State and Federal agencies to repair, replace or build new infrastructure with water and sewer being a priority.
Centerton Utilities identified 17 water improvement projects with an estimated cost of $7, 244,000. Applications have been made to the City of Centerton, Benton County, and the City of Gravette for funding of projects in their respective areas. The projects and status of the application are below:
The City of Centerton – Construction of 24 inch main from the Highway 72 tower to a vault at Harbaugh and Gamble Roads and a 12-inch main on south Main Street to connect existing mains – Cost - $1,300,000. City Council has indicated they will fund $1,300,000.
The City of Gravette – Four projects in the Hiwasse area to connect existing dead-end mains. A total of 5,810 feet of pipe with an underground crossing under I49. Total cost - $466,000. The Mayor of Gravette has notified us that he will not consider the application for funding.
Benton County – 12 projects to construct 52,100 feet of various sized pipe. Projects to connect dead-end mains, extend service mains. Projects will bring water service to about 37 new customers. General project areas are; Galyean Stables Road, Tanyard Hollow Road, Miller Church Road, Punkin Hollow Road, Post Oak Court, Talamore Boulevard, Highway 279 and Noah Road, Highway 102 and Rebel Road, Wildwood Way, Noah Road, Mt. Olive Road and Hummingbird Road, Mt. Olive Road and Little Spavinaw Road. The total estimated cost of the projects is $5,477.000. The Quorum Court will hold a public hear on funding requests in late February to establish a priority list for funding projects.
The Commission members are desirous of proving good, dependable water service to its customers. Projects that do not receive favorable funding action on applications will be added to the Capital Funding Plan for the formulation of a financing plan.
