CITY OF BENTONVILLE: Updated Quilt of Parks Plan

Update

City of Bentonville issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

In June 2020, Bentonville City Council approved a Master Plan for the future of public spaces in Downtown Bentonville. Titled the Quilt of Parks, this plan takes six parks / public spaces in Downtown and intentionally connects them through a proposed pedestrian promenade. This particular area, referred to as A Street Promenade, links Crystal Bridges and Lawrence Plaza to the north, through the Bentonville Square, and to the expanded Dave Peel Park to the south.

Bentonville Parks and Recreation (BPR) is pleased to invite citizens to view the most recent design concepts for A Street Promenade and Dave Peel Park and to provide input on their preferred design of the park. By reviewing high level artwork and imagery of the proposed spaces, citizens can determine their location preference of the future destination playground and amphitheater. A newly established website listed below features two options for Dave Peel Park. It also includes a link to a brief survey to capture the public’s feedback and insight.

The designated website, www.quiltofparks.com, will remain active for the foreseeable future. Both the survey and comments section will remain active until Friday, September 24. At that time, all data collected will be tabulated and summarized in order for city staff and designers to present final recommendations to the Bentonville City Council. From there, site plans will be finalized, allowing the project to move into the construction phase.
